Part III. Email List Building
Creating a Squeeze Page
1. How to Setup a Squeeze Page
In this lesson, we are going to show you how to setup a squeeze page using the free Wix.com engine.
What we are going to do is set up a template. People can come to your web page and opt in through Listwire as you recall. Go to www.wix.com and go to where it says Start Now.
Enter your name and email. If you already have a separate email for your web traffic, use that. It is advised to have such a separate email account. Go to Start Now and it will take a moment to load up. At the top of the page, select Templates. You can pick one that will work after you scroll through. Look for a one page or personal type. You need to stick with a one page template that is a personal bio type. It will show you the prices, look for one that is free.
Some of them have lots of colors and backgrounds. Try to minimize that. Select one that you want to view when you see what you like. Look for a basic template that you can easily play around with. Go to Edit this Page. It takes a bit of time to load the editor. The only down side of Wix.com is that they are almost too nice. They have so many features within the templates that it can be hard to get a simple squeeze page from them.
You can work on the image and even delete it. You can drag it to the delete. The top box is the text and you can edit in there by double clicking. For this example, let’s pretend we are completing a template for the golf swing. This is super easy to work with, that is the beauty of the Wix.com system.
Use the various tools to format such as to center it. You can also change the font size and the font type. You can remove any boxes or any other details you don’t want. The key to your landing page is to keep it as simple and as basic as you can.
You are going to go through it and just clean it up. Get rid of aspects that you don’t need. You can delete entire sections. You want to find a location to enter your HTML code once you clean it up. Go to App Market and find the HTML app that you can work with. That enables you to put your form onto the website.
Type in HTML in the search box. Look for the HTML iFrame Embed. Then click Add to Site, and it is free. You can click to move the form to the location where you want it to show up. For mode on the left hand side, click HTML.
Go to your www.listwire.com account summary. Click on your autoresponder and make sure you have the right form.
Go to Builders and then to Prospects at the top. From there, go to Subscription Form. We have already created and set up the form. Click on Get Code.
Get the simple Java script code at the top.
Copy it and paste it into www.wix.com and click update. You may need to expand the form to get it to display correctly.
That is your squeezed page set up and ready to go. The only other thing you may want to add is at the very bottom. You may want to change the copyright and put your name in there so that it is current. Since it is a free website, you will need to leave in the part that says proudly created by Wix.com.
That is how you simply embed your opt in form into your Wix.com website. Then you can play with the form to make sure it is centered. You can change spacing and other features too if you want. Now you have your opt in form but make sure it is something you are happy with the look of.
It is the same process if you want people to sign up for free or to opt in after they buy. You need to Save when you are done. You can create another form for each type of autoresponder. Make sure you use a one page template in Wix.com. Make sure you name the form something relevant. It should give you a confirmation.
Go to where it says publish. You want search engines to be able to find your site so make sure that is set to green. You want to enable an optimized mobile view of your site so make sure that is green as well. Go ahead and click Publish. Right here, you will get that option to upgrade for your own domain. You don’t need to do so.
Above that, is your link. This is now the link to your free landing page site.
Again, you want to clean your form up to make it look simple and nice. Once you are happy with it, copy your link. That link now becomes your squeeze page. This is what you use to promote your landing page. This is what you use to get people onto your list.
You should test out the link. Copy it, paste it, and make sure it works. It should work seamlessly for you. Fill in the opt in and then you should automatically get the first follow up email. This is the same that will occur for each person that visits and opts in. This is a very simple and effective process that is going to work for you to build your list.
